Introducing One of My First Substack Friends - Amal
I’d like to introduce one of my first Subscribers on Substack: Traveling Amal, a Tunisian flight attendant whose writing is grounded in lived experience, local knowledge, and a refreshingly honest view of travel. She shares places she has visited, food she enjoys, and advice from lived experiences, which gives her work a practical, real-world quality that makes it feel immediately useful. Her voice is direct, observant, and full of the kind of detail that helps readers see a place more clearly.
What stands out most about Amal’s writing is the way it blends travel advice with personality and candor. She writes about the realities of flight attendant life like jet lag, early mornings, layovers, solo travel, and the strange mix of freedom and exhaustion that comes with constantly moving from one place to another. I feel myself yawning with her as she opts to head out and explore new places after a long flight, rather than grabbing a nap.
Amal offers thoughtful insights into destinations like her home Tunisia or exciting destinations like Cappadocia, helping readers understand not just where to go, but how to experience a place well. Her practical advice on Tunisia would have been useful for me two months ago, when I traveled to her amazing home country. (Highly recommended).
Through Traveling Amal, she brings together the perspective of someone who knows Tunisia deeply with the practical instincts of someone who understands what travelers need. Her writing feels less like polished travel fantasy and more like lived travel: honest, useful, and full of personality. She writes with the confidence of someone who has seen enough to know that the best advice usually comes from experience.

Loved this. Need to check her out!
Thanks for introducing Amal. So interesting to find out about her and a lovely gesture on your part.
